Swatches/Review: PÜR Hydrafluid Water Serum Foundation (5 Shades)

Press Sample

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review on the PÜR Hydrafluid Water Serum Foundation. This is recent addition to the PÜR foundation line, contrasting to the matte foundation trend by being a serum foundation with an emphasis on water and a dewy, medium coverage finish.

Where to Purchase: PÜR, Beauty.com, ULTA
Price: $39.00 for 1 oz
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals.
Packaging: The foundation comes in a squeeze tube with a nozzle that looks like the end of a dropper bottle. I would be a little careful with the packaging because I've found that it can sometimes squirt out foundation in between uses. A con though is that the shade names aren't listed on the bottle themselves. There's enough of a progression between shades so it's easy to figure out but it's still a little annoying.

Formula:

PÜR says:

"the encapsulated water complex delivers Swiss Alps-sourced water to hydrate the skin for lasting radiance while providing silky, medium coverage. HydraFluid water serum foundation is incomparably lightweight yet offers the perfect amount of coverage and satisfies the desire for dewy, breathable, luminous looking skin."

If you're able to match to one of the shades and desire a dewy, medium coverage foundation, this will be right up your alley! It'll be great for someone who can't tolerate the current matte foundation trend, so anyone with dry skin should give this a look. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and there's a slight golden shimmer to the formula which is supposed to add to the dewy finish. The shimmer is not going to emphasize any scarring or large pores, but is more for adding depth.

I do have oily skin so while I can get by with wearing this lightly as a tinted moisturizer, I have to wear it with a primer and set it in order to increase the longevity. Personally I feel like setting it with a primer does impact the dewy finish so I don't think the foundation is for me. If you have a drier skin type, you'll like this much more.

Swatches:

There are five shades available: Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep and they're swatched in that order from left to right. My closest shade was Medium, though I do think it's still a little too peachy. I appreciate that they're trying to cover deeper skin tones with the latter two shades but I think there's still more shades that should be added to the line since I don't believe you should have to mix a foundation when it's $39.00.

Conclusion:

If you have normal to dry skin, are able to find a color match, and are looking for a foundation that gives that dewy hydrated look, you'll enjoy the PÜR Hydrafluid Water Serum Foundation. I think it's great that the range goes into deeper shades but some of the shades are a little limited otherwise. Since my skin type leans more oily, this wasn't a great fit (unless I used primer and powdered it).

  1. The bottle looks quite thin, it doesn't look like it would last long. I have oily skin so I think I will skip this one, I do like the shade range though x

  6. Dewy look is my favorite, even though I have combination skin. Finding the right foundation can be tricky sometimes because of that :)

  7. I have oily skin, too, so I'm not sure if this is the right formula for me - especially in our Florida heat! Thanks for the honest review!

  10. These foundations have such a nice light feel. They were a bit too dewy for me as well.

  11. Dark looks like it would be a good match for me, but I wish it had a little less red. I, too appreciate the attempt to include WOC.
