Outfit of the Day featuring Lipgloss and Black

A little while ago I bought this peplum skirt from Lipgloss and Black. (You should also follow them on their blog, they post lots of tutorials on how to mod you clothes) I was contemplating it for a while and luckily it went on sale which meant I snatched it up quick! Unfortunately it isn't available anymore but they've got loads of cute things on sale too!

The weather has been cold and rainy lately so the first hint of warm weather meant I had to put it on. If I was taller, I wouldn't have to stand on my tip toes but it's also the residual ballet dancer in me. The tank is from American Eagle Outfitters.

Rite Aid Revlon Haul

I've been wanting to try the Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude for quite some time but I didn't want to pay full price for it (but of course I used to splurge for MAC when it was full price but I've got funny standards for drugstore makeup)

If you're not following Make-Up On the Cheap or Nouveau Cheap yet, you must! Make-Up On the Cheap always posts about the beauty deals at Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS each week and Nouveau Cheap compiles the information and makes excellent recommendations with her Best Drugstore Sales of the Week posts.

With Rite Aid they're having a 40% off Revlon cosmetics and implements along with $4 in Up Rewards if you purchase $10 worth of products.

The best part is that if you buy a Revlon Nail Polish or Revlon Beauty Tool you can apply for a Single Check Rebate online worth 1 dollar each. The bad thing is that you would have had to purchase it today so I don't know if you guys have enough time for that.

I got a cuticle pusher, nail buffer, nail polish in Gold Coin and the Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude
My purchase was excellent though; in addition to having the 40% off I also had a $2 coupon off of a Revlon Beauty Tool which means extra $$ for me. I paid $12.51 after tax and I saved $10.92 including the coupon but not counting the $4 in +UP Rewards and the Online Rebates.

I shall have a swatch of Soft Nude up later tomorrow but I think my first impression of it is that it makes me look a bit corpse-y :( I think it may be a little too light on its own but I'm going to experiment!

Cream and Purple Smoky Eye

I was lazy so I didn't put on face makeup but I wore this when I went out to get sushi, nom nom nom!

- Bottom Left dark purple concentrated in the crease

Wet n Wild Mega Last Sets

This is a rather short post but I wanted to show a picture of these Wet n Wild Mega Last nail polish sets that I saw at Rite Aid.

Unfortunately, most of the color names were obscured by a coupon included in the back ($1.00 off any Wet n Wild product $2.99 or more) so I'm not sure if any of these colors are repromotes or not.

I checked the bottles again they seem to be all permanent shades!

For the price of $3.99 I think the price is definitely worth it, especially since I think the normal price is $1.99 for one plus you get a coupon. The bottles look to be full size however the bottles are smaller than a normal .5 oz bottle.

Eco Tools Brush Haul

I'm blaming Tiffany for this purchase because she reminded me of the Eco Tools BOGO deal on brushes at Rite Aid. I already owned their retractable kabuki and eyeliner brush so I didn't need much convincing to try the rest of the line out.

I bought the 6 piece brush set ($10.99) and for the 5 piece minerals set ($9.99) for free. I went back and forth about whether I should get the 5 piece minerals set or the 6 piece eye brush set ($7.99), but since the 5 piece minerals set is a better deal I can get the 6 piece eye brush set later.

For $10.99 this is one of the best brush investments I've ever made. The 6 piece brush set has a lash/brow groomer, eyeliner brush (I could always use a backup), eye shading brush, concealer brush, and a blush brush (which I contemplated getting by itself anyways and it's worth $7.99 on its own anyways).

The 5 piece minerals set has a baby kabuki (it's a little too floppy for my taste so that's why there's a black hair band wrapped around it to make it denser), mineral powder brush, an eye shading brush (it's got the same name as the one of the 6 piece set but it's more a blending brush like the MAC 222), and a concealer brush (which I can use for cream eyeshadows).

There's basically every type of brush you need to start your own brush collection plus for the price they're cheap as hell. I also like the bag that came with the 6 piece brush set because it has slots for the 5 brushes with a pouch for the 4 mineral brushes.

Have you tried out Eco Tools?

L'oreal One Sweep Eye Shadow in Playful for Brown Eyes

I think most people expect a negative review of this and I'm not going to disappoint. This is an overpriced gimmicky product and I'm wondering why anyone thought it was a good concept. I was sent this for free as part of being a member of Bzzagent.

If I paid the suggested retail price of $9.95 I would feel so gypped. Just stay far away. I don't even think you need to read my review to know how bad it is but I'll explain anyway.

The Applicator: I'm sorry but the concept is just so ridiculous. The premise is that you have this "unique" applicator that applies 3 shades in ONE SWEEP to define, color, and highlight eyes. Our eyes are not "One size fits all" so it's a little annoying that L'oreal thinks that this would work with all kinds of eye shapes. It's rather stiff so while the shorter contoured part fit easily in my inner eye, it was hard to actually get the color onto the other half of my eye.

The Eye Shadow: The eyeshadow formula is not pleasant. It's got a hard texture which picks up decently on the foam applicator. The issue lies in actually getting color onto your eyes. Out of the three shades, only the violet(the liner color) showed up and even then it was uneven.

Because it was hard to get the outer half of the applicator to apply on the outer half of my eye, the violet color was darker in my inner corner than in the outer corner. The taupe looks pretty in the pan but all I see on my eyes is shimmer, ditto for the light pink. Multiple swipes made the violet show up more but the taupe didn't and the violet wasn't even on both eyes.

I tried using the eyeshadows with a brush but they're so hard in the pan I just didn't want to keep bothering.

Ooh impressive yeah?
For $9.95 (depending on sales and such) I'd much rather go out and buy two of the Wet n Wild 8 pan palettes and an ELF $1 Eyeshadow brush and go to town with them.

This is so not worth it. I don't think you could even pay me to use it.

Disclaimer: This was sent to me by Bzzagent as part of being a member of their site. I'm not being paid for this and I have not been compensated in any way.

My Current Go-To Look

I got a sample tube of the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream and I love it so much. I don't really understand why because it isn't the most perfect color match and it isn't super heavy coverage but damn it I'm hooked. Now I understand the hype!

Anyway, I've been sick and not in the mood to do complicated looks so this is my go-to "makes it look like I put a lot of effort in but I really didn't) look. I also had a fickle moment and changed my blog layout again! I rather like how girly this layout looks so we'll see how long it lasts!

That duochrome is just so pretty; it's like the epitome of "fancy looking without the work".
Face:
Missha Perfect BB Cream in #23
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Stila Smudge Pot in Black on the lid

- the top left browbone shade as a highlight

This is midterm week (thankfully only in phonetics and in statistics) and then it'll be spring break where I'll spend it agonizing over my Fall class schedule since it seems impossible for me to get more than one or two CD courses.

Also, the very nice people at The Brush Guard sent me a few samples of their product so I'll be doing a comparison post between The Brush Guard and the DIY dupe I posted about months ago!

Inglot Greyscale EOTD

XSparkage just did a look where she used shimmery and matte versions of the same color to add depth. I like the idea plus I had two very similar Inglot shades so I thought I'd give it a try and a bit of a revamp to the normal smoky eye.

Sorry for being relatively absent lately. I've been sick for the last several days plus midterms were this week and next week :( After next week I should start being more active :)

The white fabric patches are Salonpas patches that I use for my headaches.

Next week is the last week of school before spring break so I'm just holding out for that!

Urban Decay Eden Primer
Inglot Pearl 459 in the middle of the lid, Matte 348 in the inner and outer lid
Inglot Double Sparkle 493 as the highlight

Inglot Online Store is Live!

I've heard from Sawan that the Inglot online store is FINALLY open!

If you haven't checked out any of the looks that I've done with Inglot just click the Inglot tag in the tag cloud to the left. I've also got some swatches but I definitely recommend Beautyaddict.net for eyeshadow, gel liner and lip swatches!

Couragely Goldilux Look

I'm sad, I spilled my Meow Cosmetics foundation sample but at least I managed to salvage some of it. I only wish they offered a size between the sample and the munchkin jar because I really like it.

On a good note I didn't have class today so I saw The King's Speech. It was such a great movie, balancing the dramatic moments with hilarious bits of comedy. Colin Firth swearing is one of the best parts of the movie. I was also interested in the movie because it is all about speech disorders which is a huge part of my major/future career.

I'm trying to find more colors that work well with Goldilux but orange is just my good ol' standby. I specifically love Courage by BFTE because it has microbits of glitter like Goldilux so they work extremely well with each other.

Sparkly sparkly
I'm rather disappointed in Stila's Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss. For something so gorgeous in the tube it shows up poorly on my lips. Here's a better closeup.

Goldilux and Bronze Look

I haven't done a full face in a while so I thought I would do one today. I spent a lot of my day doing phonetics work so I needed a break from it.
It's really hard to take a good picture of the back of your head but I wanted to try to show off the hair I did today. I copied Petrilude's quick tip to do this although it was a little bit harder because my hair is shorter. This is about as close as I'll get to an authentic french twist.

Meg's Makeup Package!

*Sorry about being so M.I.A. lately, I've been hardcore studying for phonetics and my language acquisition in addition to statistics but I've got a bit of a break before my major tests!*

I'm not sure if many of you have noticed the little buttons in the sidebar but one of the buttons is for Meg's Makeup. I'm pretty sure I was introduced to the brand by Jenny but it's been ages so I may not be correct.

The basic premise of the site is that you get rewarded for activity on the site, rating or commenting on posts or getting members to join (I get points if you click on the banner). You then redeem the points at levels of 50, 150 or 250 points. The more points you have the better the reward is. It sounds too good to be true but you honestly get the most amazing items for being a member. You do have to pay shipping and handling depending on the items but they're worth it!

You can join by invite (if you want me to send you one I can and I'd get 10 points for it)

For me, I redeemed 250 points (you can only collect up to 250 and then you have to redeem it in order to get more) and I paid 12 dollars in shipping. I will warn you that the time between your redemption and you actually receiving your package can be a couple of weeks. I redeemed mine on Jan 27th and I got it today March 2nd. I've seen people say it can take up to 2 months.

They also ship internationally for 15 I believe.

I received two Tarte items, a blush and a highlighter, an Urban Decay liner in Electric and a Suki To-Go kit. I also got a little business card with a personalized note thanking me for being a member!
I've never heard of Suki before this but I'm a little intrigued about some of the products. This is a mini skincare kit targeting redness and hyperpigmentation in the skin.

Just to tally things up, I paid 12 dollars in shipping.

Tarte Highlighter- worth $30
Tarte Blush- worth $25
Urban Decay 24/7 liner- worth $18
Suki To-Go set worth $28.95

Total:101.95 not including tax

It does take a long time to build up enough points to get this kind of prize but it doesn't cost anything other than shipping so I think it's worth it!

Are you a member of Meg's Makeup?

Disclaimer: I redeemed for these items from Meg's Makeup. I'm not getting paid by them at all and there is an affiliate button in the sidebar that allows me to get points if anyone clicks or joins through it. I don't get any money from the clicks or referrals though! I don't work for Meg's Makeup. Hopefully that covers all the bases!
