Today I have a review and swatches of two more Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. I already reviewed the shade Grace on the blog and wanted to share my thoughts on two other shades I got, Cloud and Kitten. Cloud especially stuck out because of the beautiful duochrome lavender and gold shift.

Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lips vs Stila Stay All Day Sheer Liquid Lipstick: Review, Swatches, and Comparison

Hey everyone!

Today I have another Colourpop vs. ___ comparison, this time swatching, reviewing, and comparing the Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lips in Doozy, Party Wave, Slide, and Zuma vs. Stila Stay All Day Sheer Liquid Lipsticks in Sheer Ballerina. These are both liquid lipsticks touting a sheerer/lighter coverage finish in contrast to the typically opaque finish to liquid lipsticks.

The Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lips came out first, launching in 2016 while the Stila Stay All Day Sheer Liquid Lipstick launched in 2017. I can't think of any brands doing a sheer liquid lipstick before the Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lips, I feel like they were the first (though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

If you're wondering what the difference between a liquid lipstick and a lip stain are, here's a quick comparison

• Lip Stain: Usually water-based, "staining" or coloring your lips, lightweight, translucent 
• Liquid Lipstick: Usually hydrocarbon based (like isododecane), adds a layer onto your lips instead of coloring it, not intended to stain your lips (though some can stain it another color due to the pigments used)

I'm not usually a fan of lip stains because the water-based formula can be drying and I don't like having to try to scrub off the stain at the end of the day. I like the idea behind a sheer liquid lipstick, having the longevity without it looking so heavy like a typical liquid lipstick.

This is a review of the Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Grace. These liquid eyeshadows first premiered in a Holiday 2017 set alongside their Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows before finally being released as standalone products with an expanded shade range. I have quite enjoyed using their Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows (review on two more shades coming soon!) so I wanted to give the Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows a try.

Today I have a swatch and review of the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Smoldering Satin. I saw a few posts about this online and swatched it in Sephora, but wasn't sure the formula would actually hold up without being a glittery mess. I ended up reading a few reviews praising the formula and that was enough for me to try it out.

These are a mix of glitter and eyeshadow suspended in a liquid medium, with some shades having a clear to sheer base (making it a great eyeshadow topper) and others having a more opaque base (for wearing on its own). Glitter is typically a very finicky product and loose glitter especially so. This seems to avoid most of the mess by having it mixed in one product.

Stila Endless Summer Set-Warm from Costco

Costco always has pretty awesome brand name sets for sale. I had seen this a couple of weeks ago but it was $19.99. I went there today and score it was $12.97! The eye liner was worth $20 (before it went on sale on the Stila site) so I think it's worth the cost.

It contains a Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Koi, a Shimmer Eye Pen in Gold, and an Eye Shadow Palette in Warm. I've never seen the latter two products for sale before this so I don't know much about them.






As much as I like the sets, the packaging is such a pain in the ass. This is the aftermath of my efforts to free everything.


Have you purchased anything like this from Costco?

My Current Go-To Look

I got a sample tube of the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream and I love it so much. I don't really understand why because it isn't the most perfect color match and it isn't super heavy coverage but damn it I'm hooked. Now I understand the hype!

Anyway, I've been sick and not in the mood to do complicated looks so this is my go-to "makes it look like I put a lot of effort in but I really didn't) look. I also had a fickle moment and changed my blog layout again! I rather like how girly this layout looks so we'll see how long it lasts!

That duochrome is just so pretty; it's like the epitome of "fancy looking without the work".

This is midterm week (thankfully only in phonetics and in statistics) and then it'll be spring break where I'll spend it agonizing over my Fall class schedule since it seems impossible for me to get more than one or two CD courses.

Also, the very nice people at The Brush Guard sent me a few samples of their product so I'll be doing a comparison post between The Brush Guard and the DIY dupe I posted about months ago!

Couragely Goldilux Look

I'm sad, I spilled my Meow Cosmetics foundation sample but at least I managed to salvage some of it. I only wish they offered a size between the sample and the munchkin jar because I really like it.

On a good note I didn't have class today so I saw The King's Speech. It was such a great movie, balancing the dramatic moments with hilarious bits of comedy. Colin Firth swearing is one of the best parts of the movie. I was also interested in the movie because it is all about speech disorders which is a huge part of my major/future career.

I'm trying to find more colors that work well with Goldilux but orange is just my good ol' standby. I specifically love Courage by BFTE because it has microbits of glitter like Goldilux so they work extremely well with each other.

I'm rather disappointed in Stila's Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss. For something so gorgeous in the tube it shows up poorly on my lips. Here's a better closeup.

Another Orange Look?!

I honestly can't get enough of Flamepoint eyeshadow. It needs the barest touch of a brush and is so extremely pigmented and smooth on eyelid. It's kind of perplexing to see how smooth a matte can be when you've experienced truly poor mattes.

I've been trying to experiment with taking pictures, I think this way shows off the shape of my eye better.

Two Looks with MAC Deep Truth

Side note: Do any of you guys have stupid pests? I've been plagued with ants recently but they're not very smart.

They went for the dining room in my house which is next to the kitchen. Then the bathroom which has no food and then they went for my laundry basket. Now they're back to my bathroom. I honestly don't get it, is there something about food that they don't like? Do I have stupid ants?

On the other hand, I have extremely smart spiders. They've now set up their own shanty town by the trail of ants (my dad has been out of ant spray so hopefully they'll be gone by the time this posts) and I see them in action a lot. Last I checked there were 3 bigger spiders and 1 smaller spider going to town with the ants.

Knowing my penchant to forget about the ants, I wrote myself a note and put it on the wall warning me not to go to the bathroom downstairs.

Anyway, onwards to the looks!
