Tarte Stop and Stare 6-Piece Eyeliner & Lash Set: Swatches and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

I'm so happy that my first semester of grad school is over, now I can actually spend winter break blogging (without feeling like I'm neglected my school work). There are a few reviews I have to get up soon but I did want to finish this one and my next on the Bite Beauty Best Bite Set because they're limited edition holiday items.

After seeing Phyrra's review of the Tarte Stop & Stare Eyeliner Set, I knew I had to get my hands on it. It was on sale at Sephora for only $27 (down from $39) and combined with the Beauty Insider Reward Certificate, it was a sweet deal. Today, I'm going to review the eyeliners (not the mascara).

Where to purchase: Sephora (affiliate link) and ULTA

Price: $27 for three skinny SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners and two SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners plus one deluxe Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara. It was previously priced for $39 but is on sale at Sephora and ULTA (it was on sale in stores at Sephora but I'm not sure about ULTA).
Do they test on animals?: The company does not.
Packaging: The pencils are all color coordinated and sharpenable. The thicker Amazonian Clay Liners come with a built in smudger tip.

The three Skinny Amazonian Clay Liners are Purple Garnet, Azurite Green, and Onyx. Onyx is permanent and Purple Garnet and Azurite Green are limited edition.

The regular Amazonian Clay liners come in Rose Gold and Taupe. I personally don't think it's actually a Rose Gold, I do think it's more bronze and not pink enough but it's still a nice color. These appear to be limited edition colors.

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Sampler Set: Swatches and Thoughts

I've got quite a fondness for sampler sets, especially the Sephora Favorites sets. They're a cost effective way to try out offerings from some of the popular Sephora brands for essentially the price of a full size item. This Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip set called out to me because it was full of lip products and included products from Bite Beauty, Hourglass, and Tarte which were brands I've had my eye on for ages. I got the set months ago with the use of a gift card I had hoarded.

That being said, I wish I liked this set more, I really do. I had really high hopes but they were dashed when I tried the products on and got a whiff of the scents. The products themselves aren't bad and if you're in the market for work friendly pinks and neutrals with a range of opacity, then it's the perfect set for you. I felt really sensitive to the scents which just made wearing the products an offputting experience.

The set includes six lip products, two of which are full size but the rest are nearly are.

(The group picture isn't color accurate so refer to the individual item pictures instead!)

.

Price: $25.00. The estimated value of the products inside is said to be more than $79.00. My math calculated the value out to be $96.67.

Where to Purchase: This is limited edition and available at Sephora online and it looks like it might be available in select stores!

Cruelty Free?: Bite Beauty, Fresh, Hourglass, Laura Mercier, and Tarte are cruelty free brands. Sephora Collection used to be until they recently started selling in China which means they are now not.

Product Description: "A set of six perfect pink and nude lip products from glosses, treatments, tints, and shines." I'll be talking about the individual formulas and my thoughts for each lip product.

P!nk Inspired Look as copied from Pixiwoo

I saw this tutorial and I knew that I had to replicate it if only because I happened to have one of the pigments that she used in the look. I chose not to do the dark crease because I thought it would be a little too much for my eyes.

My Current Go-To Look

I got a sample tube of the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream and I love it so much. I don't really understand why because it isn't the most perfect color match and it isn't super heavy coverage but damn it I'm hooked. Now I understand the hype!

Anyway, I've been sick and not in the mood to do complicated looks so this is my go-to "makes it look like I put a lot of effort in but I really didn't) look. I also had a fickle moment and changed my blog layout again! I rather like how girly this layout looks so we'll see how long it lasts!

That duochrome is just so pretty; it's like the epitome of "fancy looking without the work".

This is midterm week (thankfully only in phonetics and in statistics) and then it'll be spring break where I'll spend it agonizing over my Fall class schedule since it seems impossible for me to get more than one or two CD courses.

Also, the very nice people at The Brush Guard sent me a few samples of their product so I'll be doing a comparison post between The Brush Guard and the DIY dupe I posted about months ago!

Couragely Goldilux Look

I'm sad, I spilled my Meow Cosmetics foundation sample but at least I managed to salvage some of it. I only wish they offered a size between the sample and the munchkin jar because I really like it.

On a good note I didn't have class today so I saw The King's Speech. It was such a great movie, balancing the dramatic moments with hilarious bits of comedy. Colin Firth swearing is one of the best parts of the movie. I was also interested in the movie because it is all about speech disorders which is a huge part of my major/future career.

I'm trying to find more colors that work well with Goldilux but orange is just my good ol' standby. I specifically love Courage by BFTE because it has microbits of glitter like Goldilux so they work extremely well with each other.

Sparkly sparkly
I'm rather disappointed in Stila's Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss. For something so gorgeous in the tube it shows up poorly on my lips. Here's a better closeup.
