Wet N Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Creme Eyeshadow: Swatches and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of Wet N Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Creme Eyeshadows. I made a big purchase on Wet N Wild's website after seeing a whole bunch of their stuff reviewed by Bailey/DailyBaileyB on YouTube. I haven't been keeping up with Wet N Wild but their website makes it way easier for me than in the old days where you'd have to go to multiple stores to find the product range. This launch in particular really caught my eye because while there are lots of shimmery liquid eyeshadows out there, there aren't that many matte cream shadows at an affordable price.

Highlighters I've Been Using Lately: Review and Swatches of Cream, Liquid, and Powder Highlighters

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

I've been accumulating a few highlighters over the past few months and instead of doing individual reviews for each, I thought I would just do a compilation post of all of them while we're still enjoying somewhat of a highlighter renaissance.  I have seven cream, liquid, and powder highlighters from Becca, Glossier, Makeup Geek, and NYX to share. I think a lot of people are just inundated with highlighters so I'm hoping this post gives a quick insight to a few and ones you might consider trying (or skipping!).

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick In Rebel Rose: Review and Swatch

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in Rebel Rose. I know I know, yet another liquid lipstick to talk about but I'll admit that I've really been into liquid lipsticks lately especially as the weather is starting to warm up. This isn't Wet n Wild's first foray into liquid lipstick, they had another formula years ago called the MegaLast Liquid Lip Color (which I absolutely hated) but after hearing some good reviews I thought I'd try one of the colors out.

Wet N Wild Week: Three Must-Have Wet n Wild Trios and Palettes

As part of a collaboration with Hue in the City, this week is going to be Wet n Wild Week where we dedicate a few posts to Wet n Wild. Some posts may be looks using the brand, reviews, or swatches. It's time to dedicate some love to this drugstore brand!

I thought I'd cover my must-have palettes from the line and since I'm big into neutrals, these are all neutral-ish and work-friendly palettes! These should still be available in stores. I haven't been all that impressed with the new palettes that have been coming out so I've prefer the older standbys that were released during their revamp of the line.

From left to right, Walking on Eggshells, Comfort Zone, and Silent Treatment. Swatches are also provided below!

wet n wild trios and palettes3 (1 of 1)

First up is the Comfort Zone palette.

wet n wild trios and palettes (3 of 3)

Undoubtedly the most "colorful" of the three picks, the left side is the more typical neutral whereas the right side is the "party" side. I remember the hullabaloo the palette had when it came out just because of the shade on the far right; it wasn't a shade we typically saw in the drugstore. The olive-y silver neutral isn't bad either.

Next up is the Silent Treatment trio.

wet n wild trios and palettes (1 of 3)

The middle shade in this palette isn't my favorite (it's a little dry for me) but the pinky taupe and light pink work together to form a brilliant duo that rounds out the palette.

Lastly is the Walking on Eggshells trio.

wet n wild trios and palettes (2 of 3)

Admittedly these colors are somewhat similar to the ones included in the Comfort Zone palettes but it's different enough to warrant purchasing it. I've also heard that the colors are a dupe for MAC Shroom, Cork, and Naked Lunch.

And there you have it, three palettes that I think are must-haves from Wet n Wild! Are there any palettes that I didn't list that you think are must-haves? If you enjoyed this post, feel free to scope out the other posts from the Hue in the City bloggers!

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color in Red My Mind Swatch, Review, and Photos

I swear, some of the Spring 2013 drugstore collections coming out are truly trying my wallet and right before IMATS and ISSE Long Beach too (two of maybe the best cash and carry beauty conventions). Wet n Wild especially have brought out some tempting goodies and when I was in my local Walgreens, I found an endcap with a few of the new 2013 stuff and picked up one of the Megalast Liquid Lip Colors.

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color in Red My Mind

Where to purchase: At this time, I think they're only available at Walgreens but I'm not 100% sure. These were available at an endcap and not with the main products.

Price: At my Walgreens, they were $3.29 but each one came with a $1.00 off coupon so it came to $2.55 after tax (and I had a gift card so I really got it for free)

Cruelty Free? They are cruelty-free.

Packaging: The lip color is packaged in a tapering cylindrical tube with an hourglass shaped  cap. The applicator is a doefoot but one that's been cut to be more like a paddle. The wiper for the tube isn't that great though and it dispenses too much product. As the product requires spreading, I could see why they opted for the paddle shape but it picks up too much product. You can see how much excess product ends up on the applicator.

The applicator is actually the same as the Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Glosses, in fact I compared the two below. The Hourglass applicator is on the left and the Wet n Wild applicator is on the right. You can see how my Wet n Wild applicator bypassed quality control since there's a big chunk at the top that wasn't cut correctly. It didn't impair my application of the product but it certainly was annoying. I may end up trimming it later.

My Thoughts on the Formula/Wear Time:

I wanted to like this and I did originally, but over time I noticed there were problems. This dries down to a fairly matte finish so you'll want to be sure that your lips are as smooth as possible. The texture is light and thin, very liquidy. Red My Mind is a matte bright red with no shimmer or sparkle and opaque on my lips but I can't attest to the other colors in the range.

Application is high maintenance since you have to be sure to clean off the applicator otherwise you'll apply way too much. You only need about 1/2 of the amount that you pull out. You can apply another layer as long as you wait for the previous layer to dry but it can make your lips look more wrinkly. The product will dry down within a minute or two and there was no transferring by the three minute mark.  Make sure you keep your mouth open so the product at the corners of your lips can dry. After it's all dry, it isn't very tacky, sticky, or heavy-feeling.

When it comes to wear time, I could only manage wearing this for about an hour because I noticed that in that time, the color had started flaking away from the inside of my lips and was getting on my teeth. The color on the rest of my lips was fine but it's just not really viable to have red flakes on my teeth throughout the day. I thought that I was applying too thin of a layer but even after two layers, it was still flaking. I think the product is just not flexible enough to be worn without flaking. Maybe the friction between your lips might be contributing so it so perhaps wearing a gloss might help with the wear time, but it ruins the matte texture.

Swatch:

This was one layer swatched and the picture was taken in natural daylight.

Final thoughts:

I had high hopes but I can't really recommend wearing this when it'll just start flaking away and getting your teeth. At least it wasn't expensive.

Have you seen this in your local Walgreens? Did you like it? If you did, do you have any tips for me to get it to last longer?

Sailor Moon Collaboration: Sailor Venus

Two weeks ago, a bunch of beauty bloggers and I were talking on Twitter about the 20th anniversary of the Sailor Moon series and our love for it. We then decided to do a group makeup collaboration celebrating the series! We each picked a Sailor Scout/Senshi and a Villain/Villainess from the series to base off for an EOTD/FOTD. This week is the Sailor Scout/Senshi week and I chose to do Sailor Venus!

V is for Venus!

Sailor Venus!

Sailor Venus's uniform is white, orange, yellow, with a blue bow on her costume and a red bow in her hair and I wanted to incorporate most of those colors into my look. Orange and Blue are two colors that complement each other so well so it worked out perfectly. I couldn't find a matte blue that tone so I went for a lighter and brighter blue. I was also a little inspired by the planet Venus in that I wanted a nice mixture of orange, the way Venus is a gaseous planet with swirls of color.

Sailor Venus is also the Soldier of Love so I had to do a little red heart on my cheek to celebrate that!

QueenofBlending Inspired Phi Phi O'Hara Recreation Version 2 EOTD

After posting my QueenofBlending Phi Phi O'Hara look yesterday, I decided to try to recreate it to make it more true to the original look. I adjusted the shape a bit to make it higher in the inner corner to have it a bit more even with the outer corner.

My priorities should probably be reevaluated since I spend a good bit of time on this look but I do like it a little better than the one I posted yesterday. It's still not perfect but cut creases are hard to do!

QueenofBlending Inspired Phi Phi O'Hara Recreation EOTD

I haven't felt all that inspired lately when it came to makeup but to break myself out of my mini creative block, I decided to do my own version of Queen of Blending's Phi Phi O'Hara look from her most recent tutorial. Her look is infinitely much better than mine but I still like how this looked, if anything it was an exercise in creativity. I eventually need to get my hands on Sugarpill Tako, my matte white ain't cutting it! That and the Saint eyelashes because they look amazing.

I'm a little proud at how the lashes look. I used two pairs of eyelashes and they weren't cooperating the first time around but I managed to tame them and I think they go well with the look, even if it's not the exact style that was used in the Queen of Blending look.

The white is much chalkier looking than I had planned for it to be but mehhh.

I'm waiting to get some Freestyle palettes from TKB Trading before I finish up a post I have on storage for pressed eyeshadows and I'm nearly done with my questions and troubleshooting post on the topic!

Turquoise and Brown EOTD

On a much lighter non-Lime Crime note, I'm redoing an amazing look I saw on Pinterest. (Original credit for the image here by Vivid Emotions Make-up). I'll include the promo image after my set of pictures. I loved the bright teal/turquoise on the lid with the transition to a smoked out brown. Not necessarily super complicated but very gorgeous.

My camera decided to freak out a bit and my pictures a little more red toned than usual (at least to my eyes!). Do ignore that. Unfortunately none of my closed eyed pictures looked good so here's a barrage of open eyed photos!

.

.

The camera muted the turquoise a bit so here's an extra picture with my Ottlite to show off the turquoise better!

.

and here's the awesome look that I copied/redid! Credit goes to Vivid Emotions Make-up! As you can see, she did a much better job!

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette Swatches and Review

I'm not sure why it took me so long to properly swatch and review this palette when it's the standout 8 pan of the Wet n Wild permanent ones. I've been steering myself towards neutrals (with the exception of my Sugarpill Flamepoint, I don't think I can ever tire of a matte bright orange) and this is an excellent neutrals palette for anyone looking for one on the cheap.

I also put in MAC dupes that Temptalia found!

.

All were swatched over Coastal Scents Shadow Worx Matte Primer and taken under an Ottlite.

This is the left column from top to bottom.

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone

Browbone: This is a pretty yellow beige eyeshadow. This is frosty though so I can't say that it's the best as a highlight. This is apparently close to MAC Ricepaper

Eyelid: This is a pretty peachy pink eyeshadow, also excellent and close to MAC Jest.

Crease: This is a darker golden brown and it's close to MAC Soba

Definer: Of the four eyeshadows, I'd have to say the bottom color (the blackened red) was the worst of the four because it's a little dry/hard and not much of the red shows through. This is close to MAC Smut.

This is the right column.

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone

Browbone: I'm not good enough at describing colors but this is close to Urban Decay's Ruthless.

Eyelid: This is a spring green, close to MAC Juxt.

Crease:Much like the first column, the blackened olive is a little drier and harder than the other four.

Definer: This is the standout shade, a brown/blue duochrome. It's an amazing dupe for MAC Blue Brown pigment!

Here's it applied over black eyeliner so you can see how strong the duochrome is.

Do you own any of the Wet n Wild 8 pans or trios?

Girl About Town FOTD/EOTD

In Silhouette's Screams's last 5 Days of Lipstick Vol IV post, she featured MAC's Girl About Town lipstick. It made me remember that I own Girl About Town but hadn't worn it in some time. In person I think it's even brighter looking!

IMG_6268

Close up pictures. I've really been liking doing winged eyeliner, I think it just really flatters my eyeshape! I also have been trying to practice having even eyeliner since it's a lot easier for me to do my left eye than my right eye.

Wet n Wild I Heart Matte Palette Eyeshadow Comparisons

Hopefully it isn't too late to post about the Wet n Wild Matte palette and hopefully some of you guys are still able to find it in your local Walgreens! When I first got the palette and swatched everything, I didn't think I had similar eyeshadows to compare to until I found a forgotten MAC palette that had lots of comparables inside.

IMG_7104

And here's how they compare in eyeshadow form.

IMG_7111

I wasn't able to find any comparable eyeshadows to the matte white and the matte terracotta peach. I also figured that many of us already own a matte black and that there wasn't a need to compare it to anything. All of the comparisons were done over Coastal Scents Shadow Worx Matte Primer, dry, and in daylight.

On the left is Wet n Wild, on the right is Kryolan's TK2 Eyeshadow. They appeared a little more similar in real life but the Kryolan is more minty than spring green.

IMG_7099

Wet n Wild on the left, MAC Electric Eel on the right. This looked very similar in the pans but there are subtle differences. The Wet n Wild eyeshadow had much more of a satin sheen to it versus the MAC eyeshadow which is more matte. Electric Eel is a little brighter in real life.

IMG_7100

I tried to find as many purples as I could to do a comparison. The order from left to right is the I Heart Matte shade, then the matte eggplant purple from the Wet n Wild Lust 6-pan eyeshadow palette, then MAC Violet Trance, and lastly the purple from Wet n Wild Dancing in the Clouds.

The I Heart Matte shade is red based versus Violet Trance which is a little more blue based. The Lust palette shade isn't similar and is way more eggplant and the Dancing in the Clouds shade is basically pathetic.

IMG_7109

I actually posted a comparison between the I Heart Matte nude shade and Wet n Wild Brulee in my swatch post of the palettes before and so I thought I'd repost them here. I Heart Matte on the left, Brulee on the right. Brulee looks a little bit lighter than the I Heart Matte shade but they're basically the same in real life.

IMG_6786

Lastly I compared the brown in the I Heart Palette to the brown in the Wet n Wild On Cloud Nine trio and nope they're not similar shades at all.

IMG_7108

If you haven't yet, scour your local Walgreens to find this palette! It's completely worth the $4.99 you'll spend!
