Glossier Skywash Matte Eyeshadow: Swatches and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Obviously it's been a long time since I've updated the blog. Life, being a parent, etc takes up a lot of time but I realized that I set myself up for failure by feeling like I have to post consistently vs. posting when I want to. So here I am to say I haven't abandoned the blog, but will just post when inspiration strikes. I have a backlog of half finished posts (including a bunch of Glossier reviews) so I hope my inspiration stays for a while.

For today I have a review and swatches of four Glossier Skywash Matte Eyeshadows. These are liquid-to-powder eyeshadows for a sheer matte finish on the eyes.
I'll admit that I was enticed by these eyeshadows because I really wanted something similar to the Wet n Wild matte liquid eyeshadows.

I picked up four of the seven, Echo, Palm, Terra, and Valley. The other three colors included a Lawn (grass-lime green), Pool (pale blue), and Pebble (taupe). I knew I wasn't going to wear the green or blue so I immediately passed on them and the taupe seemed a bit too light. These colors were inspired by the Southwestern landscapes and I totally see the inspiration.

Glossier Brow Flick vs. Ardell Stroke a Brow: Review, Swatches, and Comparison

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review and comparison of the Glossier Brow Flick to the Ardell Stroke a Brow. I learned about the Ardell Stroke a Brow from Katie Jane Hughes and seeing how well the product worked on her. Soon after I got the Ardell, I found out that Glossier was going to be coming out with their own liquid brow pen though it was unclear when it would actually launch. Considering Ardell Stroke a Brow was a staple product of Katie Jane Hughes and how she collaborated with Glossier with Brow Flick, I thought it'd be useful to compare it to the two.

Glossier Brow Flick vs. Ardell Stroke a Brow Comparison

I have the Ardell Stroke a Brow in Soft Black and the Glossier Brow Flick in Black.

I tried to be as in depth as possible and have included swatches, compared the packaging, pricing, and tested the wear. Continue for more information...

Glossier Play Colorslide Technogel Eye Pencil: Swatches and Review

I Purchased This Referral Link

Hey everyone!

If you're familiar with my blog, you'll know that I own and have reviewed a ton of Glossier products. Boy Brow is my staple brow gel and I've gone through more bottles of Milky Jelly Cleanser than I can even remember. Glossier is well known for their effortless no-makeup makeup vibe so it's not a huge surprise that they would create a side brand, Glossier Play, for their more adventurous makeup launches.

Glossier Play is described as a brand of "dialed up beauty extras". In hindsight, I should have realized they were planning to venture into brighter color cosmetics after they launched their Milky Oil makeup remover. After all, not much in the original Glossier line required heavy duty makeup removing but the Glossier Play line has more colorful products.

I have lots of thoughts on Glossier and Glossier Play as a concept but it would take up way too many words in this blog post so I'll keep my thoughts to myself for another time. Today I have a review on two Glossier Play Colorslide Technogel Eye Pencils. Let's get to it!

Glossier Generation G: New vs. Old Formula Swatches, Review, and Comparison

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

As the title suggests, I'm going to be talking about Glossier's latest reformulation of their Glossier Generation G's, their sheer matte lipstick. This is the third formulation of the Generation G's and along with a tweak to one of the shades (Leo), there's been a long asked for update to the packaging and formula. I have the second formulation and packaging and got the new formula to compare.

Colourpop Brow Boss Gel vs. Glossier Boy Brow: Comparison, Swatches, and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I wanted to talk about Colourpop Brow Boss Gel. Colourpop has been expanding their brow range over the years, coming out with different brow pencils and brow pomades but they only had a clear brow gel for the longest time. Now they finally listened to consumers and released colored versions of their Brow Boss Gel. I love a good brow gel and given that they made one in the shade Soft Black, I was down to try it.

Given that the original Brow Boss Gel sounded like a dupe to Glossier's Boy Brow, I decided to compare it to the Boy Brow in Black and see how similar it really was.

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara - Review and Photos

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Glossier Lash Slick Mascara, their first mascara launch. Like with all Glossier products, there was a ton of hype behind the product and I was so intrigued by the marketing.

On their instagram, they were saying that this mascara "has been tested and proven to last and hold curl for twelve hours". If you're East/South East Asian like me, you've probably been blessed with super straight lashes that point downwards. If I do wear mascara, it has to be waterproof because waterproof mascaras are usually the only ones that will keep the curl in my eyelashes.  Given how Lash slick was described as being water-resistant but still keeping the curl, I was down to try it.

The question is...did it live up to the marketing? Click through to read my review of the Lash Slick mascara on my straight Asian lashes, see before and after photos, and whether I'd repurchase it or not.

Highlighters I've Been Using Lately: Review and Swatches of Cream, Liquid, and Powder Highlighters

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

I've been accumulating a few highlighters over the past few months and instead of doing individual reviews for each, I thought I would just do a compilation post of all of them while we're still enjoying somewhat of a highlighter renaissance.  I have seven cream, liquid, and powder highlighters from Becca, Glossier, Makeup Geek, and NYX to share. I think a lot of people are just inundated with highlighters so I'm hoping this post gives a quick insight to a few and ones you might consider trying (or skipping!).

I grouped each highlighter together by formula when it came to swatching, the creams, liquids, and powders are swatched together. Click through to read more and see swatches!

Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint in Medium: Review and Swatch

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review on the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint in Medium. Though one of the earlier products to be released from the line, I was a little hesitant to purchase it at first because it didn't appeal to me at all with its claims of super sheer coverage.

However, it's funny how the pendulum swings when it comes to makeup trends and preferences over time. I used to be someone who wore either medium to full coverage foundation or no foundation at all and now I've come to appreciate the look of a lighter coverage foundation. This is even with my uneven skintone and hyper pigmentation because it doesn't look so "done" while subtly evening it out.

Enter the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. This retails for $26.00 for 30ml/1.0 oz and comes in a squeeze bottle with a dropper top, very utilitarian.

I have oily skin so I wasn't too sure how my face would fare with the Perfecting Skin Tint. Click through to read my review and thoughts on the product!

Colourpop Blotted Lip vs Glossier Generation G Lipstick: Comparison, Review, and Swatches

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I have swatches and a review of the Colourpop Blotted Lip and a comparison to the Glossier Generation Gs. The Glossier Generation G Lipsticks were released in 2016 to the delight of many people searching for a low-fuss sheer matte lipstick. I reviewed two shades on the blog, Cake and Leo before on the blog

Almost a year later, Colourpop released their Blotted Lip as part of a collaboration with Alexis Ren. The Blotted Lip was described as providing a sheer matte finish that's buildable and lightweight and given how much I liked the Generation Gs (at least in Cake), I thought I'd get the Blotted Lip and compare the two (and it turns out they share quite a few similarities) and see if it could be considered a dupe of one another.

Glossier Lidstar: Swatches and Review of Cub, Fawn, Herb, and Moon

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Glossier LidstarsTheir newest makeup product launch, the Lidstars are a liquid-cream eyeshadow, packaged in tubes reminiscent of vacutainers. Admittedly, not my first choice when it comes to eyeshadow packaging but it's definitely unique. The videos on the website made it look so cool and they promise a sheer finish with long-lasting wear so I decided to get four of the colors to try out.

My Skincare Routine for Oily/Acne Prone Skin and Recommendations From 2017

I Purchased This Affiliate Links Press Sample

Hey everyone!

Though we're nearly done with January, I wanted to share my skincare favorites from 2017, what my skincare routine is for day/night, and some skincare realizations from the year. I categorized the items into Cleansers, Lotions/Essences/Serums, Actives, and Hydrators/Moisturizers. I also wanted to share if and how many times I've repurchased an item. Though I am acutely aware of how many products I use, I do think that sometimes more is better but don't feel like your skincare routine has to look exactly like mine.

I modeled my skincare routine by incorporating aspects of the multi-step Korean Skincare Routine, while adding in a ton of American products. If you want more information into what goes into a Korean Skincare Routine, check out Snow White and the Asian Pear.

Skincare Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin

To show that the proof is in the pudding, here's a photo of my unretouched skin so you can see what I'm working with. My routine is concerned with targeting my oiliness, dehydration, acne, and hyper pigmentation. I've mostly got my acne tackled (except for hormonal acne) and virtually all the red spots you're seeing are hyper pigmentation, not active acne.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review on the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I know I've been reviewing a lot from Glossier recently but I've had the opportunity to get a bunch of their products thanks to referral credits from you guys so I figured I would try as much from the brand as I could. I'll be rotating in more non-Glossier reviews soon!

But back to the Milky Jelly Cleanser, oh but if I could talk about how hyped up this face cleanser is on the internet. Like the name suggests, the cleanser has a jelly-like texture; the cleanser itself was actually crowdsourced and developed from input by Into the Gloss readers.

I've been using the cleanser for about two and a half months now and wanted to share my thoughts. Click through to read my review and whether I think it's worth it!

Glossier Generation G in Cake and Leo - Swatches and Review

I Purchased This With Referral Credit Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Glossier Generation G lipsticks. Before I get to the review, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who's been reading my reviews and using my referral link when making your purchases. It's helped me try out more of Glossier's products and review them for you guys. I've already reviewed the Boy Brow, Balm Dotcom, and Cloud Paint if you missed it and I'm focusing on the Generation G lipsticks today.

Glossier says "Generation G is a new kind of lip color that gives the look and finish of just-blotted lipstick, without the blot. We’ve created a short list of the six most important shades, with dialed-down pigment loads for a casual look: Zip, Leo, Crush, and Jam, along with the super subtle Cake and Like, which give some oomph to lighter lip tones. They’re lipsticks that adapt to you, not the other way around, so they'll appear a bit different on everyone as your natural lip color shows through. The effect? Diffused, matte goodness—just swipe it on."

Glossier Balm Dotcom in Original Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Glossier Balm Dotcom in Original. For a brand like Glossier, who markets that "effortless my skin is perfect so I don't need to use a lot of product but here's what you can use to get that I'm not trying that hard" vibe, it's not surprising that they have something like the Balm Dotcom in their range. It's marketed as a universal skin salve, something you can use all over for dry skin. They say you can use it on lips, cuticles, or any rough patches.

I'm personally someone who really really loves petroleum jelly based lip balms so even though it's $12.00 for 0.5 oz, I had to try it anyway. I'll also make a comparison of this lip balm to my current favorite lip balm later on in the review.

Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk - Swatches and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Link

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review on the Glossier Cloud Paint, the brand's new cream-gel blush launch. Glossier makes some pretty lofty claims about all their products (no one garners a case of FOMO (fear of missing out) like Glossier does) so I couldn't resist getting this along with their Boy Brow (which I reviewed here).

Glossier Boy Brow in Black - Review and Before/After

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Glossier Boy Brow in Black. I've been chilling out with my makeup routine, going more for a "more is less" kind of vibe and finding products that make me look put together without needing a ton of steps. One thing that can be done super easily are my brows so I looked towards finding something quick and easy.

Glossier as a brand overall exudes that "effortless beauty" vibe and their products follow along the same lines.I've been hearing so much hype about the Boy Brow that I was simultaneously repulsed (because something with that much hype was set up to disappoint  maybe?) and intrigued (okay but what is the truth) so I bit the bullet and bought it.
