Swatches & Review: L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss - A Lip Product that Won't Leave You Dried Out

Press Sample Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today's review is on the L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Glosses. I know I know, let's get it out there that the name "matte gloss" is a contradictory but these claim to be following the trend of lip products that are matte but don't dry down to a completely set, ultra drying transfer-proof finish.

The range comes in ten shades, I have five of the brighter shades to show you!

Swatches & Review: L'oreal Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadows

Press Sample Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

L'oreal recently revamped their single eyeshadow range and came out with the Colour Riche Monos line. The range consists of fifteen shades promising a smoother finish and better color payoff for less than six dolla
rs a color.

I have fourteen out of the fifteen shades. I have the shades Little Beige Dress, Sunset Seine, Cafe Au Lait, Quartz Fume, Mademoiselle Pink, Pain Au Chocolat, Violet Beaute, Noir C'est Noir, Argentic, Grand Bleu, Petit Perle, Green Promenade, Teal Couture, and Meet Me In Paris (pictured below in that order).

Do these live up to their claims of having a smoother payoff and better pigmentation? Feel free to watch the video review or continue reading!

Top 12 Eyeshadows of 2012

To continue my compilation to sum up the end of the year, I wanted to talk about my twelve favorite eyeshadows of 2012. I was much more into eyeshadows than lip colors this year so that's why I was able to come up with a top 12. Like with the lipsticks, these are all equally my favorite and aren't in any particular order. Pretty much all of them are loose eyeshadows; I found I didn't really favor as many pressed eyeshadows this year but that might change (especially since I was introduced to the Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadows. Unfortunately a few of the eyeshadows aren't available anymore but you can still enjoy the look of them.

All the eyeshadows were swatched dry over primer and pictures were taken in natural daylight. All the links take you to my previous reviews on them!
top 12 eyeshadows of 2012

Aromaleigh Alohomora: "Gilded bronzy copper with matching sparkle" Unfortunately this isn't available anymore, it was an eyeshadow I got from Aromaleigh when they were clearing out their old stock. It just reminds me of antiques and watching Antique Roadshow which is why I love it.

Aromaleigh Tunnel Vision: "Deep silver based taupe" More silver than taupe really, it's another one of those eyeshadows that was clearanced from Aromaleigh. I'm always seeking a silvery taupe and this is almost the perfect one for me.

Darling Girl Jeweled Taupe: "Metallic bronzy taupe with multi-colored shimmer" Ever since Jeweled Taupe was released, it's pretty much been one of the top sellers for the brand and it's not difficult to see why. I love the purple and red glitter shining through the bronze base. Love it!

Darling Girl Persuasion: "Medium lavender base with gold shift and turquoise sparkles" Persuasion is a color that works best when applied with a glitter fixative but it's worth it. The  green shift shining through the lavender base is a unique but gorgeous combination.

top 12 eyeshadows of 2012

Fyrinnae Newcastle: "Sparkly deep antique bronze-gold" The brown base with the gold sparkles to it, a perfect color for a smokey eye.

Fyrinnae Sacred: "Not gold, a light gleaming truly metallic taupe." I remember I couldn't find the shade on the Fyrinnae site anymore and

L'oreal Blinged and Brilliant: Metallic high shine peach toned beige nude"

MAC Coco: "Neutral taupe with frost" You ever have one of those colors that you love almost as much because of the hype and the fact that you can't get a hold of it otherwise? This is one of those colors.

top 12 eyeshadows of 2012

MAC Goldenaire: "Rosy with a gold pearl" See above re: MAC Coco

Silk Naturals Flash: "Shimmery complex gold color with a hint of silver and diamond pearl" I know just looking at it, especially compared to the other shades it seems a little out of place. Something about it though, the mother of pearl-esque color just appeals to me.

Sugarpill Goldilux*: "Brilliant, highly-reflective metallic gold with breathtaking shine" Goooooold. Gooooooold I can't handle this it's shiny and reflective and metallic gold all in my face.

Venomous Versicolor: "Maroon with green sheen" I know, I only just reviewed it a week ago so it almost seems like a premature addition to my favorites but I do love the maroon base with the green sheen peeking through.

Can you guys tell me what your top eyeshadows of 2012 have been?

One Color Wonder: Blinged & Brilliant

Here's just a quick post of my current favorite "one and done" One Color Wonders, L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Blinged & Brilliant. I think everybody in the beauty blogging world has been talking about this color so I figured it'd be my turn.

I had heard that this was almost a dupe (just a little lighter) for MAC Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish which is a dupe for Estee Lauder Modern Mercury Powder Gelee. I wanted to get my hands on the Estee Lauder product ever since seeing it featured in DustyoHunter's video review for the Modern Mercury Collection.

I'd like to consider a dupe of a dupe to still be related enough for me to pretend that I can enjoy the original product. I am hoping to maybe get a better swatch of this Infallible Eyeshadow up plus one of Amber Rush.

L'oreal Blinged and Brilliant Eyeshadow

I don't know if I'll be posting again before Thanksgiving so I'll take the time now to say that I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Cream and Purple Smoky Eye

I was lazy so I didn't put on face makeup but I wore this when I went out to get sushi, nom nom nom!

L'oreal One Sweep Eye Shadow in Playful for Brown Eyes

I think most people expect a negative review of this and I'm not going to disappoint. This is an overpriced gimmicky product and I'm wondering why anyone thought it was a good concept. I was sent this for free as part of being a member of Bzzagent.

If I paid the suggested retail price of $9.95 I would feel so gypped. Just stay far away. I don't even think you need to read my review to know how bad it is but I'll explain anyway.

The Applicator: I'm sorry but the concept is just so ridiculous. The premise is that you have this "unique" applicator that applies 3 shades in ONE SWEEP to define, color, and highlight eyes. Our eyes are not "One size fits all" so it's a little annoying that L'oreal thinks that this would work with all kinds of eye shapes. It's rather stiff so while the shorter contoured part fit easily in my inner eye, it was hard to actually get the color onto the other half of my eye.

The Eye Shadow: The eyeshadow formula is not pleasant. It's got a hard texture which picks up decently on the foam applicator. The issue lies in actually getting color onto your eyes. Out of the three shades, only the violet(the liner color) showed up and even then it was uneven.

Because it was hard to get the outer half of the applicator to apply on the outer half of my eye, the violet color was darker in my inner corner than in the outer corner. The taupe looks pretty in the pan but all I see on my eyes is shimmer, ditto for the light pink. Multiple swipes made the violet show up more but the taupe didn't and the violet wasn't even on both eyes.

I tried using the eyeshadows with a brush but they're so hard in the pan I just didn't want to keep bothering.

Ooh impressive yeah?
For $9.95 (depending on sales and such) I'd much rather go out and buy two of the Wet n Wild 8 pan palettes and an ELF $1 Eyeshadow brush and go to town with them.

This is so not worth it. I don't think you could even pay me to use it.

Disclaimer: This was sent to me by Bzzagent as part of being a member of their site. I'm not being paid for this and I have not been compensated in any way.

My Current Go-To Look

I got a sample tube of the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream and I love it so much. I don't really understand why because it isn't the most perfect color match and it isn't super heavy coverage but damn it I'm hooked. Now I understand the hype!

Anyway, I've been sick and not in the mood to do complicated looks so this is my go-to "makes it look like I put a lot of effort in but I really didn't) look. I also had a fickle moment and changed my blog layout again! I rather like how girly this layout looks so we'll see how long it lasts!

That duochrome is just so pretty; it's like the epitome of "fancy looking without the work".

This is midterm week (thankfully only in phonetics and in statistics) and then it'll be spring break where I'll spend it agonizing over my Fall class schedule since it seems impossible for me to get more than one or two CD courses.

Also, the very nice people at The Brush Guard sent me a few samples of their product so I'll be doing a comparison post between The Brush Guard and the DIY dupe I posted about months ago!

Inglot Greyscale EOTD

XSparkage just did a look where she used shimmery and matte versions of the same color to add depth. I like the idea plus I had two very similar Inglot shades so I thought I'd give it a try and a bit of a revamp to the normal smoky eye.

Sorry for being relatively absent lately. I've been sick for the last several days plus midterms were this week and next week :( After next week I should start being more active :)

The white fabric patches are Salonpas patches that I use for my headaches.

Next week is the last week of school before spring break so I'm just holding out for that!

Couragely Goldilux Look

I'm sad, I spilled my Meow Cosmetics foundation sample but at least I managed to salvage some of it. I only wish they offered a size between the sample and the munchkin jar because I really like it.

On a good note I didn't have class today so I saw The King's Speech. It was such a great movie, balancing the dramatic moments with hilarious bits of comedy. Colin Firth swearing is one of the best parts of the movie. I was also interested in the movie because it is all about speech disorders which is a huge part of my major/future career.

I'm trying to find more colors that work well with Goldilux but orange is just my good ol' standby. I specifically love Courage by BFTE because it has microbits of glitter like Goldilux so they work extremely well with each other.

Sparkly sparkly
I'm rather disappointed in Stila's Kitten Silk Shimmer Gloss. For something so gorgeous in the tube it shows up poorly on my lips. Here's a better closeup.

Goldilux and Bronze Look

I haven't done a full face in a while so I thought I would do one today. I spent a lot of my day doing phonetics work so I needed a break from it.
It's really hard to take a good picture of the back of your head but I wanted to try to show off the hair I did today. I copied Petrilude's quick tip to do this although it was a little bit harder because my hair is shorter. This is about as close as I'll get to an authentic french twist.

I Can't Think of a Witty Title EOTD

Sorry no full face pictures because I got lazy but I'm in love with the Wet n Wild Lust palette so I wanted to do another look with it. Cheap as chips for 4.99 and pigmented to boot!

So it looks a little similar to this look but it is different enough for me!

Inglot Names Are Not Conducive to Good Titles

I did this look yesterday but forgot to take pictures of it so I redid it tonight. I got my inspiration from a look Phyrra did (hers was with black and teal instead of grey and teal) but for the life of me I couldn't find the actual look to link to; if I can find it I'll link to it.

By the way, Grey is having an Inglot giveaway so if you don't have access to Inglot you can try your luck at winning some!

The teal does look a little brighter in person and not as blue.

No-Buy/UK Product Recommendations?

So in May (at the end of schools :D!) I'm going on vacation to London and Paris with my sister to visit my brother and other family members. We're staying one week in London, one week in Paris and then back to London before we leave for home.

Due to the huge amount of costs I've decided to try going on a No-Buy/Project 10 pan/Shop My Stash with my makeup. Of course it'll will only last until I get to London in which case I will splurge on UK makeup to my heart's content >)

So I'm relatively unacquainted with most of the makeup brands that are offered in London other than Sleek and Barry M. Can anyone make any suggestions as to places/stores/brands I should check out?

To prevent this from being a picture-less post, here's a simple EOTD that I did using the Blue Brown dupe in the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Inglot 78 gel liner on the lid
Wet n Wild Comfort Zone
-Bottom Right Definer color on the lid and blended into the crease
-Top left browbone color as a highlight
Physician's Formula Glam Brown Eyes Black liner on the lower lash line
L'oreal Voluminous WP Mascara
Wet n Wild Taupe eyeliner for brows

Off to finish phonetics/transcription homework!

Matte Purple/Grey Look

Oooh but I do like how my lashes look. They look so fluffy and they normally don't. Also, it's annoying that Inglot doesn't name their eyeshadows. My palettes don't have the clear lid so I can't make labels for them meaning I always forget which ones I have.

It took ages for me to find the Wet n Wild 6-pan palettes but they were still at my local Rite Aid versus the local Walgreens that had already cleared out the space for 8-pans.

Inglot Update/ Smoky Purple Look

Thank heavens for Mara because I wouldn't have known this information otherwise. She recently posted about Inglot delaying the price increase and so I rushed to call my local store to confirm this. Fortunately for me (unfortunately for my wallet) they have not changed the prices yet and when I asked when they would she gave me a tentative date of the 14th.

She also informed me that they were getting a shipment in tomorrow so if anyone close to the Fashion Island location hasn't gotten any Inglot then you must go now! I would call your closest store to get more info on the price change

If you need more prodding, here's the look I wore on Monday.

Smoky Inglot Look

I went to Tet Festival today so I've got pictures of that at the end if you're interested. I didn't actually put this makeup on until afterwards because I woke up a little too late to do my makeup.

It was an excuse to try out my Inglot stuff. Also, I got the inspiration (meaning I copied it) for my lips from this post. I did use the Round Lipgloss instead of the Square one though.

I'm rather glad I chose these two e/s, they work so well with each other

Golden Eyed EOTD

So I redid the template because I wanted to have a white background but Anna told me she wasn't able to comment on any of my posts;is anyone else having a problem commenting? If you guys are, please email me (my email is under the Contact Me link at the left) so I can get an idea of how many people are having issues so I can see about switching back to my old template!

Anyway, I've been experimenting lately with different eyeshadow shapes and I think this might just be the easiest and most flattering for my eye shape.

Yeah ignore the fact that my false eyelashes are waaaay off to the left.

I Love My Taupes and Browns

This Wet n Wild trio has been serving as a great source of inspiration lately. I like that especially since this was only $1.49 which makes me want to pick up another one. I think I like this look better than the other one I did.

I really really love the taupe in this. I'll see about doing swatches of this in comparison to my other favorite taupes.

A bit off topic I'm really happy about getting this sunscreen from my aunt. She visits my family in the US typically about once every two years and makes deliveries of amazing French goodies that we can't get in the US. I think a couple of years ago I asked for French sunscreen and I'm honestly hooked.

European sunscreen is so superior to American sunscreen in my opinion. I always found it gave better results in terms of protecting my skin against post-acne red marks. Needless to say I'm awaiting her return so I can get my stock of sunscreen and my family can get their stock of pate.
