Stay Cool for the Summer: Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Water Primer Stick - Review

I Purchased This

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Water Primer Stick, a new cooling water-based primer stick. This stick is meant to prime, refresh, and depuff your skin. The idea for this isn't actually new since there are a few iterations on the internet but this was one of the more accessible ones and I really wanted to try this out especially for the summer.

Hard Candy says it's "A water-base primer stick that instantly cool skin for flawless makeup application. This cool primer hydrates and soothes the skin, while leaving you looking pore-perfected!"

You can get this in Walmart stores and Walmart online for $8.00 for .42 oz. It's housed in a white and aqua ombre twist up packaging.

If you're like me, you'll have some undereye puffiness or eyelid puffiness in the morning. My eyelid puffiness can get to the degree that my eyelid changes shape and looks even more hooded. Though the puffiness will usually go away after a few hours, I've really enjoyed using this Hard Candy stick to help speed up that step and add a bit of hydration. Though it's mainly marketed as a primer stick, I only use it on my eyes. You could certainly use it as a primer but with my oily skin, I need a mattifying primer and this wouldn't cut it.

It smells like coconut water (which is a scent I personally don't mind) but it doesn't actually linger on your skin. Though the stick is tinted slightly blue, it goes on invisible on your skin. One swipe is all you need to add a hint of hydration and smoothness, but you don't need to blend it in. If you do a few swipes back and forth, the product does go a little milky but you can easily blend it into your skin.

The hydration is fairly lightweight so don't go looking at this for any intense moisture. It's not super long lasting so you can easily reapply throughout the day. What's nice is that it is so portable that you can easily keep it in your purse for on the go use. It's just a quick and easy step you can take if you want to cool your skin down and make it feel a little less dry.

Are you feeling the summer heat (if you're in the northern hemisphere at least)? What do you use to keep cool?

  1. I purchased this earlier this year and found, as you point out, that I shouldn't wear it in summer all over my face when I need a mattifying primer. But I love he sensation, smell and can't wait to try it again this fall!

It's great that you figured out a different use for the water primer that works for you! It sounds interesting but I would probably need something more hydrating.
