The Makeup Show LA 2017: Purchases/Haul

I Purchased This Affiliate Links Press Sample

Hey everyone!

Today I wanted to talk about some of the products I purchased/received while I was at The Makeup Show LA earlier this month. The Makeup Show LA is by far one of the greatest makeup shows in LA, giving professionals in the industry the opportunity to get the most relevant education from the best of the best and stock up on their kit. The last event for the year is the Makeup Shop NYC, a popup event open to the public which gives you the opportunity to shop and get some education too in a lighter format!

I had the opportunity to attend a press preview and get materials from a variety of exhibiting brands and I also shopped around on Sunday to get brands that I might not normally be able to try in person (and at a good price). My purchases/haul span quite a few brands so I thought I'd break it down into Eye Products, Lip Products, Face Products, Brushes, and Skincare. The products I received at the press preview are highlighted with an asterisk*.

Here's the cumulative haul but I have pictures from each section if you'd like more information with my thoughts on some of the products. I'll also have links to each product in case something interests you!

Eye Products

The Makeup Show LA 2017 Eye Products Haul

Alcone Company Eye Canvas Cream Eyeshadow in So Pretty
Kevin Aucoin The Eyeshadow Single in Coffee Bean*
Mehron Makeup Brazen Mascara*
Senna Cosmetics Form a Brow Kit in Neutral*
Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Diamond Dust and Smoky Storm
The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Gamma Ray*
Viseart Eyeshadow Palette in 06 Paris Nude

Senna gave out some really cool brow stencils along with the kit but unfortunately they didn't fit my brow shape (full but sparse Asian brows for the win!). I already loved the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Smoldering Satin (review here if you missed it) so I knew I had to get more shades; I picked Diamond Dust and Smoky Storm because I loved the idea of one with a sheer base to use with all colors and one with a more warmer gold effect to contrast with Smoldering Satin's silver glitter. I got my first Viseart palette because I've been talking so much about them each time I go to The Makeup Show that I knew I had to put a stop to all my talking and just get one.

Lip Products

The Makeup Show LA 2017 Lip Products Haul

Crown Brush Matte Lipstick in Felony*
Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte in 401*
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Lip Booster in Clear
Youngblood Color Crays Lip Crayon Matte*

In comparison to the other items in the haul, I didn't get that many lip products. I think I'm a little pickier with lip products now and am sort of favoring more moisturizing formulas and good lip care products. I got the HD Lip Booster based on a recommendation by Alyson and I hope it comes in handy during the winter! I was a little surprised at the price of the Crown Brush Matte Lipstick, based on what I'm used to with the price of their brushes $11.99 seems a little off.

Face Products

The Makeup Show LA 2017 Face Products Haul

Danessa Myricks Prism FX Hydrating Lotion*
Graftobian Luxe Cashmere HD Setting Powder*
NYX Cosmetics Strobe of Genius Palette*
RCMA Vincent Kehoe Pro Palette*
Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face and Body in Luminous

Oh man I was so excited to get something from Danessa Myrick's brand after being exposed to the range of pigmented cream colors, broad shade selection for their loose powders, and the fact that she's a skilled professional makeup artist. I'm intrigued by the Strobe of Genius palette, especially since a lot of the colors aren't necessarily ones I would typically highlight with. I don't plan on using the RCMA palette myself as I'm not a professional makeup artist so I gave it to an actual makeup artist who happens to be my significant other's aunt.

Brushes/Brush Care

The Makeup Show LA Brushes/Brush Care Haul

BeautySoClean Conditioning Brush Cleanser*
Esum X51 Large Round Powder Brush*
Hakuhodo J5529 Eye Shadow Brush Round
Smith Cosmetics 122 Highlighter Brush*
Smith Cosmetics 220 Eyeshadow Finishing Brush
Stilazzi Flat Dome Shader L210
Stilazzi Synthetic Brush S106*
Zuca Large Utility Pouch*

Brushes can truly make or break a look so I was glad to be able to shop at places like Frends Beauty, Hakuhodo, and Smith Cosmetics to get my fill of makeup brushes. This is maybe the fourth Hakuhodo brush I've owned, definitely a great range of brushes that are completely worth the hype. I'm glad I picked up the Smith Cosmetics brushes in person, I'm someone who hates paying for shipping, especially since their shipping is a bit expensive coming from Canada. A Zuca pouch is a must have, especially if you're someone who might have to travel or carry their makeup/skincare around. I think this pouch is the third I have and I love each one.

Skincare

The Makeup Show LA Skincare Haul

Dr. Brandt Poredermabrasion*
Malin+Goetz Facial Cleansing Oil*
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea*
Mustaev Mood Therapy Mask*
Skindinavia Post Makeup Recovery Spray
Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primerizer*
The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng + Rice Clarifying Milky Toner
The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask
Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

I thought it was so cool to get the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer, the idea of both a primer and moisturizer plus Niacinamide has me hoping that I'll actually love it. Mario Badescu coming out with a aloe, cucumber, and green tea version of their Facial Spray is genius since I'm not a big fan of the scent of the original Rosewater version. Urban Decay's De-slick is such a cult classic that I knew I had to try it. The Body Shop were having such a great deal with their toners + masks plus I've been wanting a honey mask so I picked up both.

--------------------------------

And that's everything I got from The Makeup Show LA. I'm already in the process of trying out most of these products so look out for some reviews soon!

Have you ever attended one of The Makeup Shows?
