Double Duty Skincare: Tackling Anti-Aging and Acne with Paula's Choice Skincare

Sponsored

Hey everyone!

Today I'm going to be talking about my skincare routine and how I've been using Paula's Choice to target all my skincare woes. I finished a bottle of the 2% BHA Gel and was already using their Resist Ultra Light Antioxidant Serum (which I love!) when I got the opportunity to try out more from the brand.

My concern with my skin as I'm heading toward the latter part of my mid-twenties is acne and anti-aging while balancing having oilyish skin. Based on my consultation with the Paula's Choice Representative, they suggested the Resist Advanced Kit for Wrinkles and Breakouts for Normal to Oily Skin which targets both anti-aging AND acne. They have a Resist line for Normal to Dry Skin.

The kit contains the Resist Perfectly Balanced Cleanser, Resist Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner, Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA, Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA, Resist Ultra-Light Daily Antioxidant Serum, Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50, Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator.

Check out how my thoughts on the products and how you don't have to compromise tackling your acne and anti-aging concerns plus my Before and After Photo.

Before I get to my review, here are some things to know about Paula's Choice Skincare:

All the skincare products come in squeeze tubes, bottles, or airless pumps. No jar packaging because jars promote constant exposure to air which can degrade the ingredients inside. In addition, Paula's Choice skincare products are formulated to be at the appropriate pH to be most effective. If you read the ingredient lists for the products, there will be a brief description next to the ingredient so you're able to figure out what the ingredient is for and why it's there.

Here's my breakdown of each product and my thoughts on them:

Cleanser: (Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser)

The Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser is a gentle cream cleanser that lightly foams without stripping away my skin or leaving it tight or dry. I think lots of people with oily skin think that the cleanser has to be super foaming to clear away oil but if your skin feels tight and dry, then it's probably removing too harsh.

Toner: (Resist Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner)

Everyone always thinks toner and astringent are the same but in fact, the two are completely different. Astringents tend to have lots of alcohol and dry out your skin while Paula's Choice toners work to help balance your skin after cleansing. The Resist Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner is alcohol-free and helped bring back a little bit of moisture and helped prep my skin for the BHA products. This also contains niacinamide to help with fading hyper pigmentation.

Actives/Exfoliants: (Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA and Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA)

Products that have active or pH dependent ingredients like Vitamin C, AHA, and BHA, should be applied immediately after cleansing/toning. The Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment is a liquid 2% BHA is light on your skin and extremely effective. The Resist Weekly Retexturing Foaming Treatment is a 4% BHA treatment to boost acne fighting and help deal with hyper pigmentation scarring. I did find that the Foaming Treatment left my skin feeling slightly sticky but following up with the next product helped.

Anti-Aging Serum: (Resist Ultra Light Antioxidant Serum)

I contribute to anti-aging by using the Resist Ultra Light Antioxidant Serum. The super lightweight serum has antioxidants like Vitamin C and Vitamin E and Niacinamide to tackle hyper pigmentation. You only need a dime sized amount of serum and it leaves your skin feeling super smooth. You're never too young to use anti-aging products since skincare should be about prevention AND treatment.

Sunscreen for Day/Moisturizer for Night: (Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50, Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator)

Moisturized skin is happy skin. Sunscreen also makes for happy skin. The Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 is a liquid sunscreen which works really well on my oily skin. It feels light on my skin while providing sun protection. I use the Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator has a light gel-cream formula that I use at night and sometimes beneath the Sunscreen in the mornings. This also contains niacinamide to help with fading hyper pigmentation.

Now I wanted to share my Before and After photos of my skin after using the system for a month. The photos are not photoshopped (only adjusted for lighting) so you can see the true results. Overall, I think the redness from my hyper pigmentation scars has reduced so my skin looks more even. The redness from the hyper pigmentation scar at the top of my cheekbone looks especially reduced.
