IMATS LA 2013 Haul

Finally I've got everything together to do my IMATS LA Haul up. All in all, I only spent about $28.00. I think the fact that I went to IMATS six months ago meant that I was really shopped out by the time I went on January. This of course doesn't mean I didn't get a little shop happy at ISSE and won't at The Makeup Show >>.

Things I purchased:

BFTE Cosmetics Pro Color Eyeshadows in Emerald Bliss and Poodle Pandemonium (purchased for me thanks to Alyson!)
Enkore Makeup 5ekz Ultra Conditioning Brush Soap
Makeup Geek Electric Gel Liner
Sugarpill Saint Eyelashes
Sugarpill Pillkitty Keychain

(why yes I did awkwardly insert the two BFTE eyeshadows into the picture because I was too lazy to take a new pic)

IMATS LA 2013 Haul

I've already dived into everything and will hopefully have posts up soon.

Oh and I wanted to show off the Sugarpill lash boxes. The top box belongs to my new Saint lashes and the bottom box belongs to the Sinnocent lashes I got six months ago. I like that the inside of the lash boxes are now patterned and match the theme of the brand.

For people who like to match up their boxes to the lashes, the lashes now have a label on the back.

I also received a few Sigma Makeup products (courtesy of their Press bag). I got a mini eyeshadow palette, travel size E25 Blending Brush, and F88 Flat Angled Kabuki.

I had my graduate interview on Saturday. I'm not entirely sure it went well but I'm hoping for the best (won't find out for another month or two!). ISSE is still going on until today and I'm hoping to take more pictures of the show. I went on Saturday after my interview but a combination of uncomfortable shoes and soreness after my gymnastics class dampened the experience a bit (I gotta say though, I love that they actually had a Press Room, it shows that they really appreciate the press [and that includes bloggers!] at the show.

I've got a test this week (why yes the semester only just started but my teacher found a way to make us have a test anyway) so busy busy until Wednesday in which case the cycle starts again since this class has weekly tests for the next four weeks (oh joy!)

How was your weekend? Is this week looking to be a good week for you?

IMATS LA 2013: People I Met, Make-Up Museum, and Body Art

Here's the other half of my IMATS LA posts, this time covering the cool people I saw, the amazing special FX exhibits in the Make-Up Museum, and the Body Artwork done by the various booths. I'll have my haul post up soon once I get my BFTE Cosmetics eyeshadows!

On Friday I made a beeline to the BFTE Cosmetics booth so I could be sure to take a picture with Phyrra (I posted this picture in the last post but it bears repeating). The BFTE Cosmetics booth was SO nice and the owners extremely kind. I can't wait to get my BFTE Cosmetics eyeshadows so I can swatch and do looks with them.

IMATS LA 2013: Friday and Saturday Experiences and New Brand Releases

Hey everyone,

I've got lots of picture to go over with you on IMATS LA . I was planning on doing my haul post first but I had forgotten to get some BFTE Cosmetics eyeshadows (I had to commission my friend Alyson/The Gloss Menagerie to CP me some) so I'm going to hold off until I can get a hold of them to do one cohesive haul post. I took a lot of pictures so I'm going to separate them out into two posts, this post will feature some of the cool booths I saw and some of the new releases I saw at the booths and the other post will feature the cool people I saw, the Makeup Museum full of special fx makeup, and the body makeup done by other artists at the show.

(To save your computers, I'm doing a "click to expand" for the post as I have way too many pictures.)

When it comes to booths I saw, the first I have to talk about was BFTE Cosmetics. The owner Crystal was so amazingly kind to me. I was supposed to only go on Saturday but last minute, Phyrra (who was working at the BFTE Cosmetics booth) asked me if I wanted to go in on Friday Pro Night as a blogger. I quickly said yes and am so thankful I did.

BFTE Cosmetics

They had amazingly cute sets and a small portion of their colors available separately. If you haven't seen some of the amazing colors on the website, it's worth the look.

IMATS LA 2012 Day 2 Recap

I know I know, you might be tired of all the IMATS related post but this is the last one covering it, I promise!

(Just a warning, some of the Special Effects makeup and Body Painting in this post may be considered NSFW)

After staying overnight at IMATS (thanks to the lovely Alyson of Gloss Menagerie for letting me crash in her hotel room), I was all geared up in the morning for Day 2. Of course I completely forgot to charge my camera battery the night before so I was fairly low on Day 2 which meant I had to save my battery for the cool stuff. Near the end of the day I saw tons of Special Effects makeup and Body Painting and managed to use my iPhone to take pictures.

To start off the post, here's a picture of me with Josh/Misty Maven. I met so many people and took lots of pictures with them but I didn't want to have to make you scroll through them all so if you want to see them, feel free to check out the photo album on my Facebook Page.

I went walking with Heather by the Shany Cosmetics booth when we noticed this palette and brush on the wall. It turns out there were actual eyeshadows in the display and they were huge! Heather's hand in the picture can give you an idea of the size of the pans and brush.

I didn't scope out many booths but I did want to stop by Z-Palette. Before IMATS, I saw a preview of their new palette that was supposed to be deep enough to hold baked powders. I know that people do like depotting their baked powders but finding a place to hold them is especially difficult so I'm glad to see that they came out with a solution.

Vanitymark was a booth we stumbled upon near the end of the show. I didn't recognize the booth until I saw some Dr. KISS lip balms on display and realized that I had heard the brand before! If you're a reader of Temptalia, you may recognize Vanitymark (and its owner Brett Freedman) by the mini series "The Making of Dr. KISS Gloss" that has been posted on her site.

Brett was super nice and it was fun hanging out at their booth. By the way, any redheads looking for brow pencils should check out their Gingerella pencil. It was damn near smudgeproof when swatched.

The rest of this post is going to be showing off the amazing special effects and body painting I saw at the show. I think they really saved the best for the last day, almost everywhere I went there was something I wanted to take a picture of.

This girl was so adorable, I loved that she has makeup on her eyes so it looks like she's got such wide eyes.

to end this post, here's a group picture with everyone I went to IMATS with that day: Mandy, Heather, Dawn, Cora, and Angie!

I had such a great time at IMATS and I really can't wait to go to the next one in January. I just gotta get through grad school applications and the Fall semester :P Thank you for being awesome enough to deal with my IMATS posts, I'll have a FOTD posted soon using the Sugarpill Heartbreaker palette I got from the show.

IMATS LA 2012 Day 1 Recap Part Two

(If you're here and haven't read the first half of my IMATS LA Day 1 Recap Part One, do check it out on A Brilliant Brunette. I posted the first half as a guest post on her blog! Go there to see pictures and read my thoughts on Senna Cosmetics, Inglot Cosmetics, OCC Makeup and a few other brands!)

For Part Two of my IMATS LA Day 1 recap, I mainly want to touch on all the amazing special effects makeup I saw at the show along with two booths I was really excited to see.

Sugarpill Cosmetics

How could I not visit Sugarpill? Their booth was so pretty and the portraits on the wall actually had A is for Arsenic Jewelry on it. This was the booth I was most anticipating and where I spent most of my money!

Amy and I! She's so adorable in person and her outfit was so cute, I think it was a vintage figure skating costume. I got to meet her once before at The Makeup Show LA and it was even better to meet her at IMATS. It's so easy to want to fangirl over her but she's so down to earth that you almost can't because she's so chill.

Hakuhodo

Oh Hakuhodo. This brand produces some of the most amazing, softest, most drool worthy brushes. This is a Japanese brush manufacturer and are luxury brush producers. They make some amazing Yachiyo brushes that I'll have to wait until I'm super rich to purchase.

I can't remember whose suggestion it was to explore the Special Effects Make-Up Museum but it was such amazing inside the hall. I was so surprised at how lifelike some of the exhibits were. I will admit, I had to do a double check to see if they were real or not. The monster's eyes were glassy and very realistic.

I actually went to the show with Anna and we later met up with Mandy, Heather, Dawn, Cora, Angie, and Bethany. Here's a picture of us eating lunch, trying to relax a little before going back to IMATS!

After finishing up lunch, we kept on exploring and I came across so many painted bodies and special effects makeup!

Stay tuned for my Day 2 Recap where I show off more Special Effects and Body Makeup along with pictures from the NYX Face Awards!

IMATS is produced by Key Publishing Group.

IMATS LA 2012 this weekend!

This Saturday and Sunday, I'll be going to my first IMATS show! This is the second makeup trade show I've ever been to (the first being The Makeup Show LA) and I'm so excited to go! I'm excited to check out some of the brands there (especially Sugarpill and Make Up For Ever).

On Saturday, I'm driving up with Anna of Fenua Beaute (we're actually having a beach day tomorrow!) and then Sunday I'm going my lonesome self. I'm especially anticipating meeting up with other bloggers like Sparklecrack Central, Make Up by Siryn, and Prettymaking! I however am not looking forward to the drive on Saturday (Gotta wake up early and leave early to beat traffic and ensure a good spot in line)

Are there any brands you guys would like me to check out? Will any of you guys be going?
