Valentine's Day Manicure

Revlon All Fired Up with Konad White. Plate M77 for the ring finger and M14 for the sparkles

I haven't used my Konad in a while so I thought I'd break it out as a way of procrastinating on my transcription homework. I meant to stamp the sparkles on the rest of my fingers but I ran out of nail polish remover so I just stuck with this.

I'm not doing anything exciting for Valentine's Day and instead am going out to eat dinner at Olive Garden. I've got such a soft spot for fettuccine alfredo and I don't really like chocolate (I prefer it in cake form), I don't like getting flowers, and I'm picky about jewelry.

I shall be going to the Hsi Lai Temple in SoCal and then shopping before dinner, nom nom.

Chuc Mung Nam Moi!

That's Happy New Year in Vietnamese by the way! I took some pictures of my makeup but they kept turning out blurry so here's a picture of my nails for today instead. Although I don't have any pictures, I was wearing Sugarpill's Goldilux on my eyes(red and gold are traditional colors to wear during Tết) and NYX's Natural Lip Liner with some lip balm over it on my lips.

This is Revlon's All Fired Up which is a bright gorgeous red and I had Konad's Gold Glitter top coat over my ring finger.

Edit: I just saw this piece of cha lua (a sort of sausage) in the soup we're having for dinner today and I thought it was too cute and had to be posted. The cha lua had a little star shape and flower in the middle of it.

Have a happy rest of the Lunar New Year!

Disclaimer: I got the Gold Glitter top coat as a gift

Do you really need Konad polish for stamping?

When I worked at the fair selling Konad, I was always asked about whether you REALLY needed the Konad stamping polish. Now there are some great non-Konad polishes to stamp with (I love CG Milennium for silver chrome) but White I used to say you needed it. I want to really make a comparison between several polishes that have been touted as good for stamping.

This is part 1 of how ever many white polishes I can find.

All of the images were scraped with the plastic scraper and I never changed how I scraped it.

From Pinky to Pointer; Konad White, L.A. Colors White Art Deco, Wet N Wild French White Creme, Konad White again

* :( for short nails. I bit them off because I was so bored and sleepy in physics. That makes for a dangerous combination*

I stamped it on black because I figured that it would show off the differences better.

The Wet n Wild fared better than the L.A. Colors but I still like the Konad special polish better. Maybe I just got unlucky bottles but I don't think they compare.

Grape Pop +Konad!

This was my favorite plate to use with customers because I'd always do it on the ring finger and it would look so nice with jewelry :)

This was two coats of China Glaze Grape Pop, topped with Seche Vite and the Jewelry pattern from M77

For Audrey Konad with M60

This is probably my most favorite polish to do a Konad over, For Audrey just looks so delicate and nice with white over it.

This is two coats of For Audrey, topped with Seche Vite and then stamped with M60 with White Stamping Polish and topped with another Seche Vite.

Someone complemented me on my nails today at school, it was awesome :D. I have learned that it is difficult explaining the concept of Konad as it is, screenprinting for nails is way better as an explanation!

Swirly Purple French Tip NOTD

It got a bit messed up on my middle finger but that's okay. My nails are bare and I just stamped a french tip using M19 and then the swirly pattern from M56 on top in Purple stamping polish. Topped with a coat of Seche Vite :)

As if I needed more Konad

I ended my month long job a week ago so I stocked up on some more Konad supplies and plates.

Disclosure: I stayed late with my boss after work (until 3am!) to help her close down the booth and so she was cleaning out some of the things and gave me the Sponge Nail Art kit, Purple stamping polish and Gold Top coat for free. Everything else I bought myself.

Black, White, and Purple stamping polish along with Gold topcoat. Plates M14, S6, and M56

The purple is actually just about this color versus as blue-looking as it is in the other picture. This picture shows off how small my hands are in real life :X

I'm not sure of this really, there is a trick to getting it not too thick and not too thin and I've been practicing to get it just right.

I'll post more pictures of some nails I did with my new plates :)

Things I've learned about konad + post office customer rant

A. Teen girls can be annoying especially if they're in groups and have money.

B. The stamping polish you can find dupes for, but the really cheap ones will argue that they can use their own rubber stamper.

C. Good customer service will lead to returning customers and/or a little boy that come by again to ask for you and will wait until you start working

D. The new style bottles of polish may look pretty but they tip over so easily. The old style plain bottles do not.

E. My booth is six feet long, I can hear every word you say. Even the nasty stuff.

F. Men who are willing to get their nail stamped by me are keepers. Their sense of humor is something you want to have.

And a post office related rant. I am number 61 and you were 52. Don't go up when I'm called saying you were 52 and you're going now. Had you asked nicely I would have said yes but no you had to be rude about it. My time is just as valuable as yours and where were you when they called 53 thru 60? I was originally 58 but I gave it to someone because I wasn't done with my packages and didn't want to spend 20 minutes at the counter.

Learn some manners please.

Konad of the Day, Claires Wild/Calm

I've got a canker sore on my tongue and it really really hurts. I should be used to them (I had tons when I had braces plus I get them around once every month or two) but I've only had one on my tongue once before. It not good.

I really like the Claires Mood Polishes, especially Wild/Calm. It's probably the most dramatic and very shimmery. I was inspired by a manicure SayAnythingBr00ke with one of the new color changing Claires colors and a Fauxnad plate so I thought to recreate it with what I had, this is plate M3.

As it is, because of work I've been trying to do a new manicure each week so potential returning customers can see how nice it looks. One of my coworkers is actually an old customer that I had dealt with two weeks ago! She liked Konad so much she talked to my boss about selling it and then she got the job. Super super awesome but my job ends in less than 2 weeks which makes me sad :( I'll need to go job hunting again.

KOTD: China Glaze OMG with M57

Excuse my messy cuticles, I'm out of pure acetone so I've been trying to manage with normal polish remover and it's not working so well.

This was an experiment but I don't know if I like the combo together, mostly because it kind of obscures the holographicness. This was 3 coats topped with Seche Vite, Konad in Black and Seche Vite again

I'm right I swear I am!

I've been working at my job for only a couple of days but I've encountered many a different kinds of customers, which is normal for retail work. I actually work at a local fair selling Konad :D so that'll definitely mean I'll have new plates to play with.

I encountered one of those all knowing customers who kept on perpetuating the idea that nail polish remover=thinner.

Now if nail polish remover is used to remove nail polish from your nails, thus breaking down nail polish, then why would it ever be added to nail polish? Logically that would break down the nail polish right?

Just oy. Anyways, Mondays and Tuesdays are my definite days off meaning I'll be able to plan posts more on these days!

Here's a Konad I did with M57(new favorite plate, hells yeah Zebra)

I absolutely love the formula for Custom Kicks (the polish I posted), it is absolutely perfect. It's extremely pigmented and smooth and just perfect. What bugs me is that sometimes the small shimmer isn't evenly distributed so some of my fingers are looking bluer than others (like with my pinky) I'm looking for a non-shimmer version of Custom Kicks because I love the color

Yay for Konad

This sort of robin's egg blue/Tiffany blue never ceases to make me feel really really classy and I love how it looks paired with a white Konad. I think it looks better with white than black.

I used the filigree/tiny leaves pattern off of the M71 plate, which is pretty beginner-friendly. The pattern has lots of spaces betwen the little etchings so if you miss a spot it's easy to stamp over that bit and make it look as if that was a part of the pattern.

Past Nails of the day

I was feeling semi creative before a test so I decided to this.

2 coats of China Glaze For Audrey, 2 coats of Stripe Rite in silver glitter and topped with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

The little bow is from Konad plate M71. My boyfriend likes to say that I apply my Konad with a microscope and a very tiny brush, haha.

All about Konad: Plates and sizes

When I got started with Konad, I originally had the small art stencils, which were just small images that I could put on my nails like flowers, leaves, etc. I'm going to post some swatches of the M2 and M3 plate eventually and you can see how small they are.

I sprung for my first full nail designs and I have to say, these suckers are really really small.

I mean I have small fingers, I think my ring size is 5, and if I think these are small, it must be small for the normal person.

That's 13mm

by 15mm

If you wanted to know, my nails are Sinful Colors in Rise and Shine with the lace and flowers full nail design from M71. That's definitely not color accurate, it's so much more green and neon.

All about Konad: Special Polish

So if you weren't aware about Konad, it's this nail art stamping kit using engraved plates that you put polish on and then stamp on using a stamper to put the image on your nails.

It's very addicting by the way, I got a kit with 2 plates and I ordered 3 more after wards.

What I wanted to talk about today is the polish needed for stamping.

A lot of people use the Special Polish that they recommend you use as the polish for the image and some people say there are other alternatives. I'll say this, if you haven't ever used the Special Polish, you're fine without it; but once you have used the Special polish, it's difficult to go back to normal polish.

What makes the Special polish different is that it's intensely pigmented, a lot more than other polish brands. Some people have said that the polish is also a lot thicker, but I don't think mine is all that much thicker than normal polish.

Here's a list of polishes that have been said to work well for stamping

I have to say, the black special polish is really pigmented but man it's so messy and it stains my fingers like no other.

Hope this helps :)
